
The Kaduna State Government has launched its Development Plan, 2021 to 2023, to transform the state into a knowledge-based economy.
The Tijjaniya Khalifa Sanusi Lamido Sanusi inaugurated the plan at the annual Kaduna State Economic and Investment Summit 6.0.
He also congratulated State government for the feat, describing the aspiration outlined in the plan as “critical” to addressing the country’s dwindling economy resulting from the over-dependence on oil revenue.
Sanuni howver tasked the government to continue creating an enabling environment for economic growth and development, noting that the country was in a crisis, with 98 per cent of revenue going into debt servicing. According to him, focusing on a knowledge-based economy is a paradigm shift from the country’s undue dependence on an oil-driven economy.
On his part, The Chief of Staff to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Muhammad Abdullahi, while providing an overview of the plan, said it represented the blueprint of strategies and actions needed to achieve the development aspirations of the state.
He also explained that 2.3 trillion naira would be required to implement the plan, adding that the government, through its Policy Councils, would coordinate, track, and persistently communicate progress on priority areas, to the relevant stakeholders and institutions.
