The Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC has urged the Federal Government
to be cautious on the issue of borrowing both within and outside the
country.
NLC General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Eson, said this in an interview in
Abuja.
Ozo-Eson explained that the Federal Government has continued to
borrow to finance infrastructure.
He said that Nigeria must be creative to ensure that the loans are
sustainable.
In April 2006, Nigeria became the first African country to fully pay off
its debt owed to the Paris Club.
The Paris Club is a group of officials from major creditor countries
whose role is to find co-ordinated and sustainable solutions to the
payment difficulties experienced by debtor countries.
