The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has raised the alarm over the dangers of cybercrime, saying Nigeria lost over 500 million dollars to the act in 2022.

This is according to the Chairman of the anti-graft agency Ola Olukoyede who spoke on Tuesday at a National Cybercrime Summit organised by the agency.

Olukoyede said cybercrime accounts for a significant percent of the convictions recorded by the agency since his one year of resuming as the chairman of the EFCC.

The EFCC boss said the agency has put plans in place to rechannel the energies of young people who are mostly perpetrators of cybercrime.

According to him, the fight against cybercrime is a collective one that cannot be left alone for the EFCC.
