The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrests of seventy one suspects for various offences such as kidnapping, arm robbery and culpable homicide in the state.
It also announced that it arrested some suspects for illegal possession of firearms and illicit drugs.
The State’s Police Commissioner, Ali Janga at a news conference to update the media on the successes achieved by the command in less than a month, also said the command recovered one locally-made double barrel shotgun, one Toyota bus and Toyota Hilux among others from the suspects.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, also gave an update on Operation Puff Adder, which is aimed at tackling kidnapping and banditry nationwide, saying the police had arrested two thousand one hundred and seventy five suspects since April 5.
Adamu said police operatives had also rescued sixty three kidnap victims and called for tougher law against kidnapping and banditry, including the seizure of assets linked to these crimes.
