The Nigerian Medical Association NMA has call on President, Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the issue of Kogi State Government refusal to accept the positive test results of COVID-19 in the state.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Wednesday confirmed two COVID-19 cases in the state.
The agency said that out of the two patients, one is a popular community and religious leader, and the patient was confirmed positive at the federal medical center in lokoja which the state government rejected the result.
The NMA president, Dr Francis Faduyile in a statement on Friday, said the association is disturbed with the reactions of the Kogi State Government on the result.
He also lamented that the Kogi State commissioner of information did not only described the process of the test and result as fraudulent, but allegedly “went on to smear the health workers of the NCDC on live national television.
