The Federal government is to commence community testing for the COVID-19 disease and social mobilisation at the grassroots to ensure physical distancing and advisories on the use of masks or improvised face coverings like handkerchiefs or scarves over the mouth and nose, to limit risk of transmission.
The Federal Government also recommended the suspension of close contact between grandchildren and grandparents, at the moment.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire who announced this at the press conference by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in Abuja cautioned that any private Practitioners engaging in unauthorised treatment of coronavirus run the risk of being shut down for decontamination.
The Minister who maintained that private facilities must obtain accreditation to treat this highly infectious diseases, advise health professionals against private or secret management of people who have COVID-19 outside of accredited health facilities.
Ehanire also appealed to health workers to adhere to all instructions and regulations; always utilise personal protective equipment; maintain a high index of suspicion for COVID-19; and protect themselves, their loved ones and colleagues.
