The plan by Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders in the North East to present a consensus candidate to occupy the position of Deputy National Chairman (North), for the October 30-31 National Convention, has suffered a setback.
It was gathered in Abuja, on Tuesday, that while some stakeholders were preparing to present the party’s ex-candidate in the 2019 Yobe State Governorship election, Amb. Umar Damagun, as consensus candidate, former Minister for Women Affairs, Inna Ciroma, has joined the race.
While submitting her expression of interest and nomination forms at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja, Ciroma promised to strengthen the party in the north if given the chance.
Inna Ciroma said, “The 2023 election is a task that must be done, and we need a winning formula, knowing the difficulties Nigerians are now faced with.
Meanwhile, an aspirant for the position of PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, has promised to contribute his quota towards restoring the party back to its pride of place if given the chance.
He said this after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the party headquarters, in Abuja.
