The Federal Government has distributed livestock to farmers affected by conflicts in fifteen Local Government Areas of Plateau State as part of Emergency Agricultural Intervention Grant.
Speaking at the presentation, the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Mustapha Maihaja who handled the exercise said that the livestock would be distributed to one thousand beneficiaries.
Maihaja who was represented by Assistant Chief Planning Officer in NEMA, Ladan Ayuba said that the intervention was funded by the National Food Security Council, whose objectives included developing sustainable solutions to farmer/herders clashes.
In his remarks, the Plateau Commissioner of Agriculture Hosea Finangwai, commended the Federal Government for its prompt intervention, saying that the gesture would complement the state government’s efforts to resettle displaced persons.
