Conditions Of Service: Aviation Workers Embark On 2-Day Warning Strike

Workers of some agencies under the Ministry of Aviation have commenced a two-day warning strike from Monday to Tuesday over unresolved conditions of service.

Chairman, National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE in Abuja Dauda Nanbol during a protest said the move was necessary as the notice of strike from the unions was unheeded.

He added that the agencies involved in the protest are the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA; Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA; Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT.

Nanbol however explained that ongoing efforts by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and National Salaries Income and Wages Commission to resolve the issues did not show any positive sign of achieving results anytime.

Also, NiMet Chairman, Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees Alao Adesina lauded Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN for implementing 10 per cent Consequential Adjustment.

On his part, NUATE-NiMet branch Uzor Oluchi said the negotiation with the agencies for seven years remained with the Wages Commission.
