
President Muhmmadu Buhari has directed continued action to end kidnapping and killings in the north central and north eastern parts of the country. He gave the order at a meeting with the nation’s security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, told State House Correspondents that the directive is that all the Service Chiefs and intelligence chiefs have been advised to go and strengthen efforts and to do more so that the North Central and Nigeria should enjoy better security.
He however admitted the government’s responsibility to provide security for citizens, noted that more needs to be done to change the insecurity narrative pervading the North Central and the North West among others where he said, people have been worried.
On his part, Minister of Defense Bashir Magashi expressed the government’s concern over the unfolding insecurity in Zanfara State and the North Central, just as he assured of the military’s determination to change the narrative. He added that the meeting also appraised the developments generally, which, according to him, require all hands to be on deck with a view to halting the menace
