The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR has visited filling stations close to the Mfum border, in Etung local government area of Cross River State, with a view to ensure compliance to closure order.
This is part of the directives by the Federal Government that all filling stations operating within 20 kilometres to the border and inter-land should not be supplied petroleum product.
DPR’s Acting Operations Controller in Cross River, Sir Cham Musa-Mohammed, told newsmen after a surveillance exercise across the State that affected all the filling stations that shares a boundary with Cameroon, had complied with the directives.
He said that during the surveillance, 47 filling stations were visited and two were sealed for under-dispensing the product and later unsealed after the pumps were adjusted.
The Acting Controller assured residents of the State that
during the Christmas and New Year season there is no need for panic buying,
adding that there would be adequate product supply during the period.
