An official on Wednesday reported that over 13 people, including three children were killed when two passenger boats collided and capsized on the Nile River in South Sudan.

State information minister Atong Manyang told dpa that six people were injured when the boats collided near the town of Bor in Jonglei State.

Manyang said each boat carried about 45 people, noting that rescue teams had been deployed to the site of accident in search of survivors.

According to him, authorities are also in the process of investigating the cause of the crash.
