The Area Controller Ogun 1 Command, Comtroller Bamidele Makinde has reacted to the viral video showcased online with the information on Idiroko border opening.

Bamidele Makinde told News men in Abeokuta on Tuesday that the video clip is an old video which was recorded on April last year, added that the Idiroko land  boarder among some land border across the country where earlier open last year for legitimate business, adding that the remaining 5 border in Ogun State remain closed

Comptroller Bamidele Makinde disclosed that the viral  video clip was an old one, and was recorded when the federal government gave the directives for the reopening of some land borders across the country.

 He also disclosed that as Eid Alkabir Festival is approaching, they will be high expectations of rice smuggling around the land border, how ever the men and officers of the command are ever ready for the smugglers.

Bamidele also disclosed that the command has suppressed smuggling to the minimal level and has also generated the revenue 34,174, 105 naira from the  month of April to may  this year compared to 10,615,618 naira generated in the corresponding period of last year 2022 with significant increase of 69%.

The smuggled items  seized in    the two months include two brand new buses, 6,924 bags of rice, of 50kg each, PMS, Use tires, Cannabis sativa amongst others.
