An Appeal Division of the Kano State High Court has commenced hearing on the case of Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara sentenced to death by hanging by the Upper Shari’ah Court, Kofar Kudu.
Abduljabbar was found guilty of defaming the personality of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola.
When the case came up on Monday for mention, the counsel for the appellant, Barrister Sadik Yusuf, informed the court of his readiness for the hearing, but the counsel for the Kano State government, Barrister Bashir Saleh, sought an adjournment, saying he was not ready.
The case was therefore adjourned to May 9, 2024, for hearing.
