Nigeria will not be participating in the 2023 FIBA Afrocan Basketball Championship to hold later this year after losing to cote d’ivoire in the final match on Sunday.


Having recorded a loss on the opening day to Guinea, Nigeria made a strong comeback defeating Benin on Saturday but failed to overpower the host, Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.


Cote d’Ivoire recorded 100% performance by beating Guinea in the first game, defeated Benin Republic on Saturday and edged Nigeria in the third match.


With three wins in three games, Ivory Coast will join Rwanda, Morocco, and the winner of Africa Zone 1 qualifier in Group Cat the FIBA AfroCan in July, in Angola.
