28 kidnapped victims of Kagara Market in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State have been released by their abductors.

The victims were said to have been kept at Kango Forest through Dangulbi
Village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and were freed
at Kamfani-Doka in Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State as a result of the
ongoing operational onslaught at neighbouring states of Zamfara and
Kaduna states.

It was also gathered that they were released after their families paid over
18 million naira ransoms to the kidnappers as each victim was said to have
paid about 600,000 naira.

Niger State Commissioner of Police Monday Bala Kuryas confirmed their
freedom in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu
Abiodun.
