The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU has advocated for the elimination of disparity in workers’ wages to enhance productivity in the country.

The National Public Relations Officer, Abdussobur Salaam made the call at the first memorial lecture in honour of the late Adoro Obiageli of the National Mathematical Centre, NMC in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme “Nigerian workers and the struggle for survival”, he said that there was a correlation between the salary of workers and the wealth of a nation.

According Salaam, until when Nigeria evolves a salary structure that will make workers happy, the country will not advance.

Earlier, the Chairman of SSANU, NMC branch, Olorunsuyi Ademola, said that the lecture was appropriate considering the current situation in Nigeria where workers’ standard of living was very low.

Also speaking, the Director of NMCStephen Onah appreciated the association for organising such a lecture, while expressing the centre’s readiness to support and encourage staff welfare.
