The Nigerian Army has restated its commitment to safeguarding humanitarian organisations to enhance adequate service delivery, restore peace and stability to the north eastern part of the country.
Theater Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, made this known at the end of a meeting with representatives of UN agencies and humanitarian organisations, in Maiduguri on Friday.
Adeniyi said the army deployed effective security measures to protect the organisations and provide enabling environment to enable them discharge their duties in the region.
He said his meeting with officials of UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other agencies was very fruitful and have mapped out various strategies to ensure easy delivery of humanitarian services to the region.
He said to fully assist and address the challenges, a committee has been set up to resolve all the areas where there are frictions or perceived challenges in the delivery of services.
