The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, UNAMA has condemned a bomb attack targeting a crowd outside a mosque in the central part of the Afghan capital of Kabul.
It was reported that about eight people were killed and 20 others injured in the explosion that occurred at the gate of Eidgah Great Mosque, when a prayer ceremony was being held for Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid’s deceased mother.
Mujahid also serves as deputy Minister of Information and Culture in the Taliban caretaker government.
However, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
In another development, Indonesian Police has confirmed that six people were killed and 41 injured during clashes between members of two tribes in Papua province.
Papua Police Spokesman Ahmad Musthofa Kamal said clashes erupted after members of the Kimyal tribe armed with arrows, bows and machetes attacked Yali tribesmen in Yahukimo district on Sunday.
He explained that it was not clear what sparked the attack, but said about 1,000 people sought refuge at a local police station in the wake of the attacks.
