An Abuja High Court on Tuesday directed the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba, to release a supporter of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Solomon Onyegbule.

The presiding judge, Justice Z.B. Abubakar, who gave the order, also awarded fifty million naira as compensatory and exemplary damages to Onyegbule.

Kanu and IPOB’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in an issued statement, said the Court also ordered the Police to tender an apology to Solomon Onyegbule on national newspapers.

Ejiofor promised that his team would continue to ensure that all Igbos who were illegally imprisoned in various facilities of the security agencies in different parts of the country are freed and compensated.
