Coach Manu Garba has tipped striker Taiwo Awoniyi to be a scoring sensation for the Super Eagles as Super Eagles begin their quest for glory at the delayed Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON Cameroon 2021 against Egypt tomorrow.
Garba with super record with the Under-17 and Under-20 national teams, said t Awoniyi is capable of filling the void following the withdrawal of Victor Osimhen .
It was gathered that the striker thrived under Garba with whom he won the 2013 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in the UAE and the 2015 Under-20 AFCON in Senegal where the striker was among the goals as Nigeria claimed their third title since the continental youth competition became a biennial championship.
The Foremost youth coach said Awoniyi has the potential to be a standout striker for the Eagles based of his pedigree.
However Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been cleared of Covid-19 after been tested negative.
He is however expected to return to Italy to make himself available to Luciano Spalletti in view of the next matches, starting evaluated perhaps already with the Coppa Italia match with Fiorentina.
