The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad has summoned seven Chief Judges over conflicting court orders that emanated from their various states.
Although only six of them were initially summoned by the CJN over the issue, the summon has equally been extended to the Chief Judge of Delta State. Those to be grilled are the Chief Judges of Rivers, Cross River, Anambra, Imo, Jigawa, Kebbi and Delta states.
Director of Information, National Judicial Council, NJC Soji Oye who confirmed the development in a statement said Justice Mohammad has already ordered them to come with the records of proceedings in all the suits from which conflicting ex parte orders emanated.
It added that the action of the Chief Justice of Nigeria is to rearrange the anti-corruption efforts of his leadership and establish a new culture of accountability in the judicial system.
Justice Muhammad is also expected to meet with the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA over the matter.
