The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG has called for the resignation of the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, over what it described as the distortion of facts on the killing of its member in Abia State.
The union’s National President, Williams Akporeha, and the General Secretary, Afolabi Olawale in a statement, condemned the provocative story of the Minister of Information on the national network television to the whole world on the facts regarding the killing of one of its members, Chibuisi Chikezie Okameme, a petrol station worker in Abia State, who was killed by a mobile policeman while discharging his legitimate duties and in the frontline of the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday 5thApril.
NUPENG added that for the record, the policeman is in custody and has made confessional statement to the act, as autopsy carried out on the deceased and specimen of bullet removed from his body.
