The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has assured that transmission wheeling capacity is expected to reach ten-thousand megawatts by July 2020.

The company’s Managing Director, Usman Gur Mohammed, who announced this at a quarterly TCN briefing in Abuja, said the massive milestones were achieved between February 2017 and October 2019 through the implementation of the Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Programme, TREP.

He added that the programme targets raising the bulk power transmission wheeling capacity from six-thousand megawatts to ten-thousand megawatts in 2020 and reaching twenty-thousand megawatts by 2021.Mohammed said the conductors to be used for the line re-conductoring have arrived Nigeria for up-grading major lines in Lagos, Onitsha, Kaduna and many other areas, which will raise the grid capacity to evacuate the ten-thousand megawatts power
