The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on abandoned projects in Niger-Delta, has revealed that a total of one thousand seven hundred and twenty three contractors had collected over seventy billion naira without mobilising to the site.
It would be recalled that at last week sitting of the panel, the Auditor General of the Federation, had said that more than sixty four billion naira was wasted by the Niger-Delta Development Commission, NDDC as mobilisation fees on abandoned projects in the Niger-Delta region.
But the Accountant General of the Federation’s report submitted to the ad-hoc committee, shows that over one thousand, seven hundred contractors never went to the site after collecting over seventy billion naira.
The report indicates that ninety per cent of these contracts were awarded between 2011 and 2012.
