The National and State Houses of Assembly Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, has struck out the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party,  PDP and Suleiman Adokwe,  challenging the election of Tanko al-Makura, of the All Progressives Congress, APC as the winner of the Nasarawa-South Senatorial seat.

Adokwe challenged the election on account of alleged unlawful declaration of al-Makura as winner of the poll and claimed that the polls did not comply with provisions of the Electoral Act 2010.

In a unanimous judgment, read by its chairman, Justice David Ugoh, the tribunal held that the petitioner failed to prove that the respondent had not scored the highest lawful votes at the election.

In the same vein, the Tribunal also knocked out a petition challenging the March 9, 2019, election which returned Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Ibrahim Akwe for Obi-1 constituency.

The candidate of the APC, Isa Mohammed, challenged the victory of Akwe in the State House of Assembly election.

In a judgment, the tribunal Chairman said that the petitioner failed to prove that Akwe did not score the highest number of lawful votes cast in the election.
