The leadership of the ninth National Assembly is to acquire operational vehicles for the lawmakers that make up its dual legislative chambers.
It was learned that meetings in that regard started among presiding officers in the Senate even before the upper legislative body embarked on its eight-week recess, which ends on September 24th.
A National Assembly official who confirmed the meetings said the cost of the cars would be deducted from lawmakers’ allowances.
It would be recalled that the Bukola Saraki-led Senate spent not less than four billion naira at that time to acquisition the brand at a cost of thirty six million naira.
The Red chamber has always maintained that the cars are not for the luxury desires of individual Senators but to boost the operations of committees.
