A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed July 1 for Federal Government’s arraignment of five officials of the Nigerian Football Federation,NFF over alleged $8.4m fraud.
NFF president, Amaju Melvin Pinnick; General Secretary, Muhammed Sanusi and others were charged with 17-count allegations of converting to their personal use the sum of $8,400, 000 paid by FIFA to the NFF. Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu granted the Special Presidential Panel for the Recovery of Public Property leave to serve the defendants by substituted means, and ordered them to report back on July 1 for the arraignment.
The SPIP alleged that the defendants converted to their personal use the sum, which was meant to be Super Eagles appearance fees for 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, the office of the Attorney General of the
Federation had written the SPIP to hands off the prosecution in the matter to
enable them takeover.
