Leadership Tussle: High-Level Meetings Begin Over Senate President, Speaker
President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Asokoro residence, on Tuesday, was a beehive of activities, just a day after his return from over a one-month vacation in France.
His return raised the pace in the battle for the position of Senate President.
Among those who visited Tinubu were two of the leading aspirants; Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin, who are believed to have lobbied the President-elect for support.
Other aspirants includes: Osita Izunaso, Orji Uzor Kalu, Abdul-Aziz Yari and the current Senate President, Ahmad Lawan. Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, who was newly re-elected, has also indicated interest.
National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu who also visited Tinubu, is believed to have held talks with him on when the Party organs will meet to decide on the zoning of the National Assembly principal offices.
