Super Eagles’ forward Kelechi Iheanacho says late arrival of some players has affected the team’s preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa Benin.
15 players trained for two days before they were later joined by Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Paul Onuachu yesterday. Three more players, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Maduka Okoye are still being expected in camp.
Iheanacho also stated that it has been difficult for the team to have proper training sessions because of the late arrival of his colleagues.
In another development, Coach, Hugo Broos says Bafana Bafana will not be thinking about revenge when they confront Nigeria in Uyo on Friday.
Broos’ men lost to the Super Eagles in the semi-final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The former African champions put up a spirited display in the game before losing 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
