2022 Budget: President Buhari Accuses National Assembly Of Inserting N887bn

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the National Assembly for removing crucial projects from the 2022 budget estimates sent to it by the executive and inserting its projects to the tune of 887 billion naira in the fiscal document before it was signed into law.

This is coming just as Buhari asked the National Assembly to amend the 2022 Appropriation Act passed by the National Assembly in December, 2021.

Buhari lamented that 139 out of the 254 projects in the budget totaling 13.24 billion naira had been identified for deletion, noting that it was imperative to remove all capital projects that were replicated in the 2022 Appropriation Act.

He however requested the National Assembly to amend the Appropriation Act to provide for capital expenditure in the sum of 106 billion naira and 43.870 billion naira for recurrent expenditure.

The President also stressed the need to reinstate four capital projects totaling 1.4 billion naira in the executive proposal for the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.
