Kaduna State Government has allocated 118.8 million naira for state-wide tree planning in the 2022 budget, in its bid to encourage afforestation.
The copy of the budget indicated that the amount was part of the 3.1 billion naira allocated to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for capital projects.
A breakdown of the capital projects showed that 28.5 million naira was allocated for greening and urban renewal planting, and 27.6 million naira for raising of seedlings in the state’s nurseries.
The State Government also earmarked 18.2 million naira for climate change mitigation and adaptation project, 8.9 million naira for forest reserve management and monitoring using geographic information system applications.
In a similar vein, 6.9 million naira was set aside for monitoring of liquid waste, 36.2 million naira for provision of sustainable air quality equipment, 747.5 million naira for incineration and procurement of accessories and 20 million naira for procurement of weight bridge accessories.
