The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has suspended the Super Sand Eagles and decided that Nigeria would no longer participate in international beach soccer tournaments indefinitely.

The resolution was reached after the Annual General Assembly in Benin, Edo State by the Executive Committee of the Federation.

The Federation’s board lamented the insignificant outing of the team at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay last month and “totally decided to put on hold Nigeria’s participation in international beach soccer tournaments until certain benchmarks, most importantly the creation of a beach soccer league in the country, are met.

A five-man committee  headed by chairman of the Organising Committee, Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko, Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’, Felix Anyansi-Agwu and Mohammed Sanusi was put in place to determine the modalities and guidelines, and to encourage States wishing to inaugurate full-steam beach soccer leagues and compete among themselves or internationally.

Also, the Board has approved another five-year contract for the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, with effect from January 1, 2020, while a four-year contract and first year being probationary was approved for the Deputy General Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme.
