The Nigerian Senate, via its Committee on 1999 Constitution Amendment says it will complete the amendment process in 24 months.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Barau Jibrin, said this at the inaugural meeting of the committee in Abuja.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, had explained when the committee was constituted that the 1999 constitution needs a review because it contains many issues that needs to be put right.

At the inaugural meeting, Senator Jibrin pledged that members of the committee would be diligent in the amendment of the constitution.

Senator Jibrin, who is the Deputy Senate President, said that members of the committee would be guided in the amendment process by a work plan.
