Suspected vandals have attacked the 330kV Lokoja–Gwagwalada transmission line, disrupting power supply to Abuja.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, stated that the incident occurred on November 9, 2024, affecting three transmission towers.
Attempts by TCN engineers to restore the line failed, prompting an inspection team to discover that towers T306, T307, and T308 had been vandalized, with spans of aluminum conductor stolen
. Although the second line of the double-circuit system is still operational, TCN is working to source replacements for the stolen conductor to restore full capacity.
