Challenges: Mustapha Says Federal Government Committed To Ending Banditry, Other Crimes

Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss has re-assured that the Federal Government would end banditry and other crimes in the northwest geo-political zone. He made the pledge in a keynote address at a two-day stakeholders’ engagement on current security challenges in the zone in Kaduna state, with the theme: “Enhancing the Role of Local Communities in the Security Architecture through Awakening Security Awareness and Consciousness.’’

Mustapha’s address was delivered on his behalf by Director, Special Services at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation office David Attah. He noted that tackling insecurity was one of the three priority areas of the Government which had been working tirelessly to reduce it to the barest minimum.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation also noted that as part of efforts to tackle the menace, the Federal Government increased budgetary allocation to security apparatuses including the military. He noted that security situation had improved across the country.

 Earlier, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the timing of the workshop was apt, as a testament to government’s determination to address insecurity. He added that the choice of location also reflected the strategic importance of the State to the collaborative efforts to end insecurity in the northwest. LET
