Governor Seyi Makinde, of Oyo State, says the South-West
governors and the Inspector-General of Police have agreed to meet and review
the
operation of ‘Amotekun’ in the region.
Makinde, who announced this to journalists after his visit to
the
Police Chief in Abuja, said they deliberated and
had an agreement in
principle to have the governors of the
South-West to meet with him to
review the situation.
In a similar development, Governor David Umahi, of Ebonyi
State, said
the South-East regional security outfit has been
formed to protect lives and property.
Umahi, who is also the Chairman of the South-East Governors’
Forum,
spoke when he hosted the General Officer
Commanding, 82-Division of
the Nigerian Army, Major-General Lasisi Adegboye
at the Government
House, Abakaliki.
The Forum said the need for total re-evaluation of the security
architecture in the region informed the
formation of the joint security to ensure
adequate security.
