The Nigerian Senate confirms the appointment of Paul Tarfa as Chairman of the North East Development Commission NEDC.
The Upper Chamber also confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Alkali as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the commission alongside nine members.
This followed presentation of report by Chairman, Senate Committee on Special Duties, Abdul Aziz Nyako on confirmation of nominations into the board of the commission.
Contributing, Binta Masi, observed that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer was from Borno State as well as the headquarters of the commission being domiciled in the state.
She noted that in the spirit of fairness, other states facing insurgency should have been considered.
Nyako said the observation made by Binta was paramount but indicated that the decision was reached during Senate and House of Representatives conference.
