The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has kicked against the planned petrol subsidy removal, by the present administration, when the nation’s refineries are yet to work.
A source said the Organised Labour had advised the government to look at the gas deposit in Nigeria, which research shows would last for about five hundred years.
It added that the Congress had always argued that subsidy removed in an import-driven economy like Nigeria, noting that putting the refineries to work and all this matter would be solved.
It was gathered that NLC is in consultation with sister Labour Centres, the Trade Union Congress, TUC and the civil society allies and engage the Government.
It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his inaugural address Monday, at the Eagle Square in Abuja as the 16th Nigeria leader, said there is no reason to continue with the current fuel subsidy.
