Crime Fight: Defence Chief Tasks Personnel On Security Of Military Cyber Infrastructure

The Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor has advised members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, AFN to secure all military electronic infrastructures against infiltration by cyber criminals.

Irabor, represented by the Chief of Defence Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Dahiru Sanda, gave the charge at the opening of the maiden AFN Transformation Seminar in Abuja, with the theme, “Impact of Cyber Security on National Security: Lessons for the Armed Forces of Nigeria”.

Deputy Director, Defence Information, Air Commodore Wap Maigida, made a statement in Abuja, said the Defence chief also noted that the seminar was relevant for operational commanders and strategic leaders to gain knowledge required to achieve sustainable national security.

Irabor said the military leadership in the country had taken cognisance of the fact that cyber warfare constitute a paradigm shift from conventional and asymmetric warfare.

On his part, Acting Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation Air Vive Marshal Emmanuel Eze, said the seminar was in line with the Irabor’s focus of having a professional armed forces capable of effectively meeting its constitutional duties.
