The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC says it will do everything possible to ensure safety on the nation’s roads during the Yuletide.
The FRSC Sector Command in Enugu, Corps Commander Joseph Udoabba made the pledge during a town-hall meeting with stakeholders at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla.
Udoabba was represented at the event by the Deputy Corps Commander, Logistics, DCC Anthony Ogbodo.
The corps commander, however, said that motorists needed to obey traffic rules and regulations in order to achieve the target.
He said that the town hall meeting was one of the measures to educate motorists on reducing highway carnage.
Udoabba said that the meeting was in furtherance of the synergy the FRSC had with the UNTH.
According to the corps commander, there are bound to be challenges on the roads, especially, if motorists drive against traffic.
He advised motorists to always be on their seatbelts and in possession of their drivers’ license.
Udoabba also urged passengers to call drivers to order when they were involved in reckless driving.
