Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Jos North Local Government Area with effect from August 30 untill further notice.
He announced the review in a statewide broadcast on the state-owned media on Monday in Jos and explained that the curfew would now be enforced from 6pm. to 6am.
Lalong added that the curfew in Jos South and Bassa is to also be further relaxed between 10pm to 6am as from Monday 30th August, until further notice.
The Governor however expressed displeasure over the security challenges in the state, saying it had stalled the progress and huge investments made in peace building and crime fighting within the last six years.
He noted that in spite of arrests made over the incidents, the curfew was imposed in some local government areas following threat to lives and properties, adding that it was also to enable security agencies to handle the situation. Lalong emphasised that the ban on operations of Tricycles and hawkers remained in force, within the Jos/Bukuru metropolis.
