Kano Ulamas Oppose Lifting Ban On Congregational Prayers

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has advised advocates of
secession that breaking up Nigeria into autonomous nations is not the
solution to the ongoing agitations in some parts of the country.
He also cautioned those clamoring for civil disobedience to be cautious,
reminding them that Nigeria cannot survive another civil war.
Ganduje spoke yesterday while presenting a paper titled: “Sustaining a
united and indivisible Nigeria: A myth or reality” at the Second
Quarterly Public Lecture series of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
Press Corps, in Abuja.
The governor urged the Federal Government to end the activities of the
Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, and those agitating for Oduduwa
Republic by opening dialogue with those in the vanguard of the
balkanization of the country.
According to Ganduje, no section of the country has the right under the
Constitution to seek an independent nation and cited Article 2 of the
Constitution, which states that Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble
sovereign state.
He however stated that the only way to legally grant such an option is
through an amendment to the law, adding that agitators would be
required to follow established guidelines while protecting the
sovereignty of the nation-state.
