The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC has suspended a public hearing stipulated for Monday 16th on the application for the extraordinary tariff review for the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN insisting that the company must fully prepare to brief customers with details.
NERC Vice Chairman and Chairman of the three-man hearing panel, Sanusi Garba, who declared the hearing open in Abuja and listened to TCN’s presentation, said the briefing was sketchy and that the agency must fully respond to questions from customers.
He lamented the Transmission Company was not prepared for hearing and to provide elaborate response to the consumers.
Garba also noted that the public hearing was at the instance of TCN, which seeks tariff review to provide ancillary services including Spinning Reserve to stabilise the national grid.
The Market Operator at TCN Edmund Eje had explained that the transmission company did a competitive procurement and contracted six Generation Companies, GenCos to provide 220 megawatts spinning reserve which could cut down rising incidences of system collapses.
