Ghana President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo has described the land border closure between Nigeria and Benin Republic as a big blow to regional integration.

Akufo-Addo who was commenting for the first time since the Nigerian government closed its border with Benin Republic on August 20th, said the action could negatively affect the regional integration agenda.
The Ghanaian President in Accra said the continent is about to enter a delicate period in the ECOWAS journey looking ahead of the possibility of a single currency and trying to forge greater integration among economies and at the same time have important security and other issues which confront the continent.
Akufo-Addo argued that overall interest of member states should override individual national interest.
