The Federal Government has applauded the senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress after winning for the third consecutive time, the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket trophy.
The Nigerian queens defeated Mali 70-59 Sunday in Yaounde as they continue to dominate African basketball winning the 2017, 2019 and 2021 editions. Nigeria had previously won the 2003 and 2005 editions in Maputo and Abuja respectively.
Sports and Youths Development Minister Sunday Dare, while hosting the team to a reception inside of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, declared Nigeria a basketball-loving nation.
In a similar vein, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF Musa Kida noted that the country can no longer be taken for granted when they play.
Nigeria’s D’Tigress returned from Yaounde with only three members of the team.
