The Kaduna State Government has created a 50 million naira budget line for Vesico Vaginal Fistula, VVF patients in the 2020 budget for their treatment, food and skills training.

The State’s Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hafsat Baba made this known at a high-level conference on Obstetric Fistula, which held in Kaduna.

She said that the State has over twenty-thousand untreated cases, as the only VVF centre at Gambo Sawaba hospital can only treat 200 patients annually, adding that the State government is however careful in treating the VVF patients.

The Commissioner said after the skills training, the patients received Starter Packs to enable them commence businesses after their treatment.Governor Nasir el-Rufa’, who was represented by the Commissioner of Health, Amina Mohammed-Baloni, commended Fifth Chucker Polo and Country Club for the bold step in defining the partnership with the government and United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA to eradicate fistula in Kaduna state.
