The United Nations, UN Office on Drugs and Crimes, UNODC has commended Federal Government over what it described as strong commitment in response to counter human trafficking in Nigeria at all levels.

UNODC Executive Director, Yury Fedotov made this known in a statement in Abuja.

He stated that the establishment of task forces on human trafficking by National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP with support from UNODC was to decrease vulnerabilities to trafficking of women, children and youths.

He added that the establishment of these bodies reflected multi-sectoral response for the state as well as non-state actors.

Fedotov added that the task forces would work toward raising awareness, protecting victims of trafficking, increasing access to justice, as well as rehabilitation of traffickers.
