World leaders are in Kigali, the Rwandan Capital as the country marks 25 years after the mass genocide. The anniversary marks the end of the genocide in 1994.

The 1994 mass slaughter of Tutsis and moderate Hutus during Rwanda’s civil war lasted between April 7th and July 15th, 1994.

The vice president, who will be accompanied on the trip by senior government officials, left for Kigali yesterday Wednesday and is expected back in Abuja later today Thursday.

African leaders and heads of governments present at the occasion include Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who is representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the July 4th occasion.

Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande, said the Vice President would join other African leaders and Heads of State expected at the occasion scheduled for today.

The vice president who left for Kigali on Wednesday and is expected back in Abuja later today Thursday.
