Reports say four persons have been feared dead and many others injured during the incident in an explosion at a storey building on Aba Road, Sabon Gari area of Kano State.
Eyewitnesses however said death toll may rise.
Kano State Government has explained that explosion in the Sabon Gari area did not occur in a school as some reports claimed.
Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba said the incident happened at an animal feed store opposite the school along Aba Road, Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government.
He also explained that, while the cause of the explosion and the damage had yet to be officially ascertained, a probe has since began to ascertain the cause, impact and measures to be taken.
Garba however called on residents to remain calm while the government in collaboration with relevant agencies are working on the matter and also assured that government would keep the public abreast of any development.
